A series of workshops will be run on Permaculture Designing for Chooks. We will be exploring into chook house designs and those that protect the chooks from the local elements & predators. We will be looking into climate suitability, solar orientation, water & energy usage, use of materials and suitable chook quantity & selection for our designed structures. There will be a focus on mobile shelter designs (eg. chook domes, tractors & trailers) and utilising chooks in the garden and in the preparation of a garden space. Those interested – start your research now, so we can information pool in spring. If you are an experienced local chook house builder, bring along your existing practical knowledge, experience and photos of your chook structure(s). There is an opportunity to enter existing structures, as well as our designs from these workshops into “The Contented Chook Awards” and “The Great Australian Chook house” design competition run by ATA (Alternative Technology Association)
